BC Conservative Party Leadership Debate on Natural Resources, Energy & Economic Development

Six candidates. Two hours. One hundred and twenty minutes of sector-by-sector economic accountability, livestreamed province-wide. Moderated by Jim Csek and Renee Merrifield. Emceed by Stewart Muir.

Economic accountability, not partisan theatre.

British Columbia faces a decade of consequential choices on energy, natural resources, and economic development. The BC Economic Leadership Forum exists to make those choices visible, comparable, and accountable.

The Forum is independent. It is non-partisan in its framing and rigorous in its substance. It does not promote parties, candidates, or policies. It promotes clarity on the record.

Each convening is a structured, professionally moderated examination of a single question: what specifically would candidates or decision-makers do, on specifically which files, with specifically what evidence? Answers are tested in real time. Evasion is noted. The outcome is a public-record contribution to economic literacy in the province.

The Forum is co-produced by Resource Works Society and Now Media. It is supported by event sponsorships and ticket revenue. No sponsor has editorial rights. An independent adjudication body approves the format, the questions, and any format disputes.

Four commitments that define every convening.

01

Editorial independence

Questions and format are approved by an independent adjudication body. No sponsor, partner, or participant influences content. This is declared on air at every event.

02

Specificity over posture

The Forum tests policy positions, not slogans. Every question is sourced and specific. Moderators press for evidence when answers drift to generality.

03

Equal terms

All invited participants are offered identical terms. No preferential treatment in time, staging, questions, or production. The same rules apply to every voice on the platform.

04

Public record

Every convening is livestreamed free of charge, archived in full, and referenced by a permanent public record. The Forum's value is its documentary evidence.
